TPSA is offering assistance to Indonesian testing labs to ensure their ability to test target products (coffee, footwear, and apparel) to Canadian import standards. As a first step, the Canadian consultant, Intertek, visited four Indonesian labs that test footwear and apparel and undertook an extensive audit of their management and operational practices. The audit was conducted with the assistance of an expert from the local Intertek office in Jakarta and TPSA Jakarta staff. The audit is based upon a lengthy interview process with a standard questionnaire that is used by Intertek to assess testing laboratory compliance with internationally accepted management and operational testing laboratory standards. Visits to the remaining five testing labs (one each for apparel and footwear and three for coffee) are planned for December 2017 or early 2018. Once the visits are completed, a training plan will be developed.
