TPSA Releases Report on the Role of Renewable Energy in Indonesia’s Electricity Sector

May 13, 2019

- Jakarta

While Indonesia is blessed with an abundance of energy resources, both fossil-derived (coal, oil, and gas) and renewable (hydro, geothermal, solar, biomass, ocean, and wind), it is fossil fuels, especially coal and gas, that are used to provide nearly 70 per cent of the electricity produced in Indonesia. If Indonesia is going to be able to meet its target of increasing the share of renewable in the energy mix to 23 per cent in 2025, several major issues must be addressed. This report shares the learnings and advice received from a range of stakeholders who participated in a series of interviews and focus group discussions sponsored by TPSA and facilitated by Glendale Partners.
